We are a small family chicken hatchery and seed business located 6.55 miles from Far West Little Rock, Arkansas in the Ferndale/Paron area.
We hatch on a very small scale for ourselves and for the local community.
We are a small 1-2 person hatchery and seed business. We have a goal of saving rare poultry/plants/seeds. Having said that, 99% of the people who contact us want common breeds of poultry ( almost always hens) and common seeds so we sell many common chickens and seeds.
I will not have any baby chickens (possibly some common breeds) past September/October each year. Birds cut back drastically on their laying in the winter and I do not force them to lay with lights. There is usually not a demand in the winter and we get stuck with lots of birds (especially roosters) to raise. Therefore, we don’t hatch in the winter.
I would like to note that the pictures on our POULTRY Page are internet pictures and not our pictures. I do this because the internet picture is so much clearer than my picture. If you want to see pictures of our actual birds, please see our blog pages.
Due to fowl diseases running rampant some years, we rarely show birds at the Fair anymore (yes, I know, I did this year) and we never buy chickens from individuals/internet anymore. We also do not allow visitors because of this reason. We only meet in public at a gas station or at the bottom of our driveway. No tours and no visiting the chickens–sorry but a disease years ago wipes us out and we had to cull everything that we owned and start over. We do not know if we got it at the Fair, other chickens that we purchased, or a person.
