October 2024

October 2024:

Little Rock Preservation Center–CLOSED FOR WINTER.

We are a small 1-2 person hatchery and seed business. We hatch on a very small scale for ourselves and for the local community. We have a goal of saving rare poultry/seeds.

We do not hatch past September

See you next year!

I will not hatch anything past September (maybe occasionally). My chickens rarely go broody in the winter months and I don’t force them to lay with lights so we get very few eggs in the winter.

Update September 18, 2024: I sold the last of my pullets last night. I have no hens or pullets until Spring. I am done with babies for the winter–minus one or two sets. If those one or two sets sell, I will have more. If not, I will not hatch any this winter as I get stuck with lots of winter babies and It costs more to raise them than people want to pay by the time that they hit laying age in the Spring.

Well….never mind

Around October 16th, we will have a small amount of baby chickens for sale. Common breeds. $5 each plus $1 per week in feed once they hit 6 days old.

Hatch date is October 15-16, 2024 and we anticipate having:

Black Star (autosexed breed) -around 5
Rhode Island Red-around 5
Black Australorp-around 15
Buff Orpington-around 8
Easter Egger-around 8
Cochin Banties-around 3
Around 10 of a few other breeds but only a few of each–Some could be rare breeds but I am not sure what ones yet. They are not $5 each.

I still have tons of seeds. $1.00 per package
Please see my Seeds page for seeds that I carry.
